Alton Abbey is an Anglican, Benedictine monastery in the beautiful Hampshire village of Beech, just outside Alton. It has been described by Ruth Gledhill of The Times as “the best-kept secret in the Church of England” and “the place to go when you need six weeks holiday but can only spare a day”.
On Saturday 26th May, Mass will be at 0930, not 0900 as is the service sheet. This is to allow extra travel time for those attending the Friends’ Quiet Day. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Brother Benedict (formerly Kari) Hintikka writes… “For the past couple of weeks I have spent a lot of time reflecting on my past and the truly incredible changes that have happened. Here I am, an ex-addict to many a substance, who, for 24 years, wandered in darkness and self-destruction; yet now I have just become a novice in a monastery! God truly works wonders in your life if you just let Him. Thanks be to God!
